Quick answer

Who can apply for private student loan consulting?

You can apply if you hold private (non-federal) student loans, reside in one of the 48 U.S. states we serve (South Carolina and Mississippi are excluded), and your combined private balance is $5,000 or more. P Student Relief has operated since 2016 as a consulting and matching organization: we review your situation and, if it fits, introduce you to a vetted partner provider that performs FDCPA-compliant debt validation. The eligibility consultation takes five minutes, costs nothing, and carries no upfront fees. Whether any particular option helps you depends on your loan documentation, your servicer and your circumstances.

Eligibility

Do you qualify?

Transparent criteria, stated up front. If you do not qualify, we tell you on the first call rather than after you have signed anything.

✓ You can apply if

  • You hold private (non-federal) student loans of $5,000 or more
  • You are a U.S. resident in one of the 48 states we serve
  • You are currently making payments, or you are in default
  • Your loans are with a private lender or servicer
  • You want to understand what options exist for your situation

× We cannot help if

  • You only hold federal student loans — Direct, FFEL, Perkins, PLUS. Those have free federal programs at studentaid.gov
  • You live in South Carolina or Mississippi — state licensing restrictions
  • Your private balance is under $5,000
  • You are currently in active bankruptcy proceedings

What happens, step by step

Full transparency on the process. Nothing moves forward until you review and approve it.

01
Within 24 business hours

Free specialist consultation

A specialist calls to review your loans, your situation and what you are trying to achieve. The call is free and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.

02
Day 2 – 7

Review and written action plan

Your advisor verifies your loan details and outlines an approach — debt validation, lender hardship program guidance, or consolidation — along with the expected costs and program length. You review it before anything happens.

03
Day 7 – 14

Introduction to the partner provider

If you decide to proceed, we introduce you to our vetted partner provider: an independent firm You sign directly with them and they disclose their fees to you in writing beforehand.

04
Month 1 – 3

The work begins

The provider carries out the approach you approved and reports progress to you. You keep control throughout and can leave the program at any time.

05
Month 18 – 60

Program completion

Program length depends on your balance, your servicer and the documentation in your case. Individual outcomes vary and no particular result is promised in advance. Leaving early may affect whatever has been achieved up to that point.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about applying

The eligibility process, what to expect, and how the program actually works.

Is applying free?

Yes. The eligibility consultation, the assessment, the action plan and the introduction to the partner provider all cost nothing and carry no upfront fee. If you choose to enroll, the provider's fees are disclosed to you in writing before you sign, and you contract directly with that provider. P Student Relief does not collect fees from clients; we are compensated through a referral arrangement with the provider — worth knowing when you weigh our recommendation.

How long does the form take?

About five minutes. It is a four-step wizard covering your loan balance, monthly payment, loan type, state of residence and contact details. After you submit, a specialist contacts you within 24 business hours, Monday through Saturday, 8am to 6pm Pacific.

What happens after I submit?

You receive an email confirmation with a reference ID. Within 24 business hours a specialist calls to review your situation, verify your loan details and explain which options apply to your case. There is no obligation to continue — the consultation is informational.

Will applying affect my credit score?

No. The eligibility check involves no credit pull and does not affect your score. Later in the process, any credit-related step is disclosed and requires your explicit consent first. Be aware that enrolling in a debt program itself may affect your credit standing — your advisor should walk you through that during the free consultation.

Can I apply if my loans have a cosigner?

Yes. Private loans with a cosigner are eligible. Cosigner situations change how a case is handled, and the cosigner may receive notifications depending on the approach taken. Tell the specialist about the cosigner on the first call so it is factored in from the start.

What if my loans are already in default?

You can still apply. Once an account has been sold to a third-party collector, FDCPA protections apply fully — which is precisely the context where debt validation is most relevant. The partner provider has experience with accounts in collection, charge-off and default. The specialist will explain what that means for your specific case.

Is P Student Relief a debt settlement company or a law firm?

No. We are a consulting and matching organization headquartered at 555 Anton Blvd, Suite 368, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, operating since 2016. We are not a law firm, debt settlement company, consolidation company, lender or debt collector, and we are not affiliated with any government agency or program. We refer eligible borrowers to a vetted partner provider that performs FDCPA-compliant debt validation under its own business credentials.

Why are South Carolina and Mississippi excluded?

Neither P Student Relief nor the partner provider operates in those two states, because of state licensing requirements for debt-related services. Residents of South Carolina or Mississippi cannot enroll, and the form will tell you so before you finish. We serve the remaining 48 states.

What outcome can I expect?

That depends entirely on your case, and anyone who gives you a number before reviewing your file is guessing. What comes of any particular approach rests on your loan documentation, your servicer, your financial situation and applicable law. No specific reduction, settlement or outcome is promised, and not all applicants qualify. What we can tell you up front: the consultation is free, programs typically run 18 to 60 months, and the specialist will give you an honest read on your situation — including when nothing we offer would help you.

We are not a law firm, a lender, a debt collector, or a credit repair organization, and we do not provide legal or tax advice. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government agency or program.
How we are paid The consultation and plan are free. We do not collect fees from clients; we are compensated through a referral arrangement with the partner provider. If you enroll, that provider discloses its full fee schedule to you in writing and you contract directly with them.
Results are not guaranteed We make no promise that any specific reduction, settlement, or outcome will be achieved. Results depend on your loan documentation, your servicer, your financial situation, and applicable law. Programs typically run 18 to 60 months. Not all applicants qualify.
Potential consequences Enrolling in a debt program may affect your credit standing. Withholding payments to a lender or servicer can result in late fees, added interest, negative credit reporting, collection activity, or legal action by the creditor. Consider these risks and consult a licensed professional before deciding.
Private loans only We assist with private student loans exclusively. Federal borrowers can access free programs — consolidation, income-driven repayment and forgiveness — directly through the U.S. Department of Education at studentaid.gov at no cost.
Availability Services are available in 48 U.S. states. We do not operate in South Carolina or Mississippi. State law governing debt-related services varies; some options described on this page may not be available where you live.

Debt validation refers to a consumer right under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (15 U.S.C. § 1692g); exercising it does not by itself eliminate or reduce a valid debt. Customer experiences vary and do not predict future outcomes. P Student Relief is a trade name of JOCO Enterprises LLC, 555 Anton Blvd, Suite 368, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
